Paramount Pictures

The start of our paramount studios tour!

Paramount pictures has been around since 1912! Back then it was called famous players film company founded by Adolph Zukor who created Hollywood’s first major studio!

It’s been through some tough times throughout its history for example during the war it went from producing 150 films a year to 10-15, its stood the test of time, producing incredible films to date!

In 1916 he put 22 actors and actresses under contract and honoured each with a star on the iconic paramount logo we know and love today!

Had a look through paramounts trophy shelf one of them being the best picture award for titanic.

Some Star Trek props, starfleet phaser, communicator and tricorder.

Actual costumes used in Star Trek and Adam’s family.

First stop around the paramount grounds was the movie prop store.

This life size bumblebee wasn’t actually on the film but was created by two guys for fun in which paramount found out and was soo impressed with the very accurate model they bought it off them. Not only that they also employed them to take it apart and put back together at events including travel to destinations at paramounts expense, not bad for a fun project!

Ofcourse the truck from transformers!

Contamination detectors from mission impossible 2

Star Trek USS enterprise turbolift.

Body and casket from bad grandpa

Cyrobed from interstellar

Airlock from interstellar.

Car from Greece live.

Public transporter from Star Trek.

Next we jumped on one of these club cars to drive around the huge studio complex! Quite fun, felt like a movie star already Haa!

Welcome to paramounts own New York street! Like many other studios they create fake whole streets as travelling to actual destinations involve a lot of logistics, shutting down streets, and compensating everyone at incredibly high costs!

A typical brick house… nope it’s not! .. all the materials used on these sets are all fake, mostly all polystyrene/plastic types of material so the set can be changed easily at very little expense!

These buildings are actually much smaller than New York building to save money, but if you look at the windows here you see they’re big at the bottom and smaller toward the top. This is to create an illusion on camera that they are actually the size of a New York building!

Pretty much all the buildings are just a facade with a timber framework behind it.

Fact for you , the godfather was originally going to be called the mafia but the actual mafia complained and said they couldn’t use it, instead they had to replace the word with family whilst filming. Also they insisted they would be in the movie and advise on production so some scenes actually had the real Mafia in it!!!

Notice the different size doors…. well the reason for this is when filming they wanted some actors like Nicole Kidman to appear smaller than Tom cruise so they would make her walk through the bigger door to make her appear small! And Tom Cruise through the smaller one to look tall ! How crazy is that!!

Board outside the sound stages saying all the movies and series filmed there. Stage 23 home to the movie of ‘ girl with the dragon tattoo’ , ‘grace and frankie’ , and series ‘sister sister’ to name a few!

On from the sound stages we were taken to their car park where they sometimes use it for scenes in the sea/water! They would fill the car park with water and ta da they have their set! Unbelievable !

Recognise this scene?? … probably not.

This is just a seat on paramount lot behind their hospital but also a scene from ‘top gun’! Most of the time paramount use whatever they have around them making the studio lot one big film set!

What an amazing and shocking tour, one thing I’ve learnt is that nothing in the movies is real aha ! Hollywood is one big sham! Lol but also very impressive how they do it all 😬
